Next Chapter Bookshop is pleased to present: An Evening with Annie Barrows.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (now available in paperback) has been a hit with readers across the country, particularly with book clubs whose members have found much to discuss in the novel. The book, which was completed by Barrows when her aunt, Mary Ann Shaffer was too ill to continue with the project, takes place as London is emerging from the shadow of World War II. Writer Juliet Ashton is looking for the subject of her next book and inadvertently finds it when a letter arrives from Dawsey Adams, a man she has never met before. Adams is a native of the island of Guernsey and a member of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society--a club that was created as a spur-of-the-moment alibi when its members were discovered breaking curfew by the Germans occupying their island during the war. Through a series of letters, Juliet is drawn into Dawsey's world and to a story that will change the course of her life.
